Christian Landaeta
Since he was one or two years-old, records spinning on radio consoles, jukeboxes and portable record players always captured his attention and make him become, in no time, a big music and vinyl fan and collector who majored in English Teaching at the University of Chile in 1982, obtaining a degree in English Linguistics and English Pedagogy. He grew up within a small family nucleus where his older sisters and mom had a taste for diverse music styles like french pop, orchestral music, american pop of the 60’s, boleros, the very italian sounds of the San Remo festivals of the early seventies along with classical music, besides the usual AM radio sounds that tempted his ears from the kitchen. That’s how he led his music search from a very young age. All these early age explorations, together with what he calls unforgettable mind-opening experiences like attending the screening of Walt Disney’s “Fantasia” at eight years old defined an eclectic music taste in which, to this day, Stravinsky, Mussorsgky and Tchaikovsky converse in perfect harmony with Genesis, Tangerine Dream, Cocteau Twins or the very chilean Congreso, Los Jaivas and Kuervos del Sur, adding the inevitable pinch of soul, rock, alternative pop, fusion-jazz and dance disco music, along with film scores, chilean and some latin-american pop and rock, from the sixties until today. He prefers defining himself simply as a true music passionate fan whose initial steps in radio programming and production go back to his school radio days at the age of 15. Also, as a big fan of vintage audio sound, record players, open-reels and a tireless record and movie collector, who spent long years a as programmer, producer and artistic director on chilean FM radios of the eighties and nineties like Concierto, Futuro and Horizonte Fm, with a short stay as guest host in the late night rock and avant-garde shows of Beethoven Fm back in 2007. He spends most of his working day teaching English for Inacap and for the University of Chile and the Sound Engineering School in the Arts Faculty. He never wastes a minute to share dialogues about cinema, photography, his love for animals and good music, the true fuels of his everyday life.
